The City of Richmond is about to start their budget process and they have set aside $3 million to be allocated to district-specific projects chosen by the public!
Over 1,900 project ideas were submitted by Richmonders in the Fall and now residents will get to vote on their top choices – using ranked choice voting!
The Richmond People’s Budget is an incredible opportunity for Richmond residents to directly impact how City funds are spent in their communities – and to practice ranking!
The voting period is April 1st through April 15th and we need all hands on deck to ensure the entire Richmond community is engaged, informed, and participating.
At this point, we are asking anyone interested to sign up – specific opportunities will be shared soon! Below are some of the different ways you can get involved:
Canvassing: Handing out information at community events
Tabling: Includes volunteering at a table distributing information about the budget and providing opportunities to vote
Outreach: Visit local businesses providing information and flyers about the Peoples Budget for them to share with their patrons
Presentations: Visit schools, college groups, civic organizations, and other meetings to share information about the Richmond People’s Budget and encourage participation.
