We know it can be difficult to sort through all the noise when you’re trying to be informed about issues that matter most to our democracy. We will work in good faith to provide materials and resources for all voters to educate themselves before casting their votes or engaging with elected officials.

RANKed CHOICE VOTING
Also known as “instant runoff voting,” RCV has been gaining momentum in localities and states across America, including right here in Virginia. This is a simple way to ensure that our voting process is more representative of the electorate while also incentivizing candidates who build consensus.
RCV not only increases voter participation, but it rewards candidates who promote civility and consensus.

Proportional Representation
Proportional representation ensures election results reflect how people actually vote. Instead of winner-take-all outcomes, seats are allocated based on each group’s share of the vote—so more voices are heard and fewer voters are left out. For Virginia, that means a more representative, competitive, and inclusive democracy.

From information about voter registration and finding your polling place to early voting options, and identifying your elected representatives, we believe that civic engagement should be for everyone.

REDISTRICTING
In the organization’s previous iteration, thousands of grassroots volunteers successfully campaigned to end single-party control of redistricting, establishing what experts agree are some of the fairest legislative maps in America.
But the work of the inaugural Virginia Redistricting Commission was marred by partisan infighting, and there is clearly more work to be done to work towards a fully independent process in advance of the next redistricting cycle.
